I'm answering this a little late, but the answer depends upon your budget. The more frequent your contact with potential clients, the better. Once a month would be the most often I would want to send anything out and the least often would be three times a year. Four times a year would be good.
In addition to newsletters, there are other ways to use direct mail to stay in touch with potential clients. It's a lot easier and far less expensive to send greeting cards, holiday cards and birthday cards. You can send greeting cards for only $0.62 per greeting card plus first-class postage.
You could send a newsletter twice a year and send greeting cards 3-4 times a year or you can just send greeting cards. Sending greeting cards is extremely easy because all you have to do is upload a data file with the names, addresses, and birthdates if available and put the program on autopilot. The cards are easily personalized with your client's name in the card and your actual signature. A handwriting font is used to address the envelope so there is no label and a first-class stamp is applied. For more information, see
