It’s also all about the keywords you choose. Some are very highly competitive – and a new site would have no chance of getting in the top 10. The trick is to narrow down the keywords. Example: Personal Injury Lawyer is very competitive. Clark County Personal Injury Lawyer is less so.

Also – put the keywords on top of every page with a H1 tag. The SE crawlers start from top left and reads/indexes all text it finds.

I would recommend if a Canadian company to go for the .ca extension as well as the .com if available. Canadians are typing these in alot now days to find Canadian company sites.
